The Stirrup Guy

Back Again.

The Stirrup Project is finally back! Well, we technically never went anywhere, but in secret, we have been working and working and working on what has culminated into this relaunch. With a lot of help from some new friends (that I will get to thanking in a moment), the Project has not only got a new face, but also a new everything. Well except for our goal, which is still to give less fortunate kids everywhere a chance to play baseball. We are still pursing our goal of $5000 of baseball equipment for our two initiatives, one in Allendale and the other in the Dominican Republic. But wait! With this relaunch, giving money to the Stirrup Project is as easy as pulling a credit/debit card out of your wallet and clicking the Donate button on the right side of the screen. So no more worrying about writing a check and sending it in the mail, the Stirrup Project has gone high tech!

Which is a perfect lead way to thanking those who have helped in this relaunch. I want to start by thanking Walter Colindres, Tanner Naeher, and all the people who have helped them work on the website. I could have never dreamed of the Stirrup Project being represented by such a wonderful website, and Walter, Tanner, and their team did this out of the graciousness of their hearts, which means so much to me. Also, the beautiful script that is now adorning the top of the website was the work of Bryan Flynn, who does some absolutely amazing work. When I completely figure this blog out, I will put a link to Bryan's site. Both are amazing at what they do, and it is a blessing that they have devoted some of their time to help out the Project. Last but not least, the new Stirrup Project logo, which is the man holding the stirrup, is the work of Derek Yoder and Josh Jenniges. They did a wonderful job on him, and I fell in love with their design the first time I saw it. I was afraid we weren’t going to have a redesign of the logo before the relaunch, when out of nowhere Derek and Josh came through with this great design. I love how he incorporated the components of the old logo into a new sleeker version. All together I really could not have asked for more in these guys. They have done a tremendous job, and I really can’t accept any credit for this relaunch. These guys did all the work, and they have put together an excellent representation of the Stirrup Project. Now, it is time to raise some awareness and raise some money, so we can do what we have always intended to do, play ball!

Welcome

If you are not familiar with the Stirrup Project, then I’m about to sum up the entire story for you in a few sentences. The Project was founded with the idea that everyone deserves a chance to play baseball, and that chance is not available for many. With the help of you, I want to give that opportunity that most of us were blessed with to some of those who are little less fortunate. Therefore, if you care about baseball please read on to see if you can help support the Project.

The Stirrup Project hopes to serve many in the future including those here in the homeland and in underdeveloped countries. Initially, the Stirrup Project has undertaken two initiatives to provide baseball equipment to the less fortunate. I have chosen the Dominican Republic as one of our first drop destinations because we all know how much the Dominicans love baseball. And also, the project is teaming with the Henry Aaron Dixie Youth League in Allendale, SC as the other initiative.

I want to help as many of these kids as I can have the chance to live out their dream by providing them with adequate baseball equipment. So help the kids out, donate to the project, buy a shirt, or send baseball equipment. It is for the kids. If you have questions or ideas, please contact me.

Join the Revival

All charities have a way to raise awareness. We all know what the color pink stands for, and we all know the meaning of yellow wristbands. But how can we raise the awareness for the Project? A stirrup revival. I want all players of different ages and skill levels to start trading out their dull normal socks for sannies and stirrups. Let’s bring back the real baseball hosiery and raise awareness so others might get the same chance. I wear stirrups when I play, and I’m asking you to wear stirrups, too. Put on your stirrups, take an action picture, and tell me why you wear your stirrups? Then send it to us, and you can get your picture on our refrigerator.

A big thanks to the Clink Room for featuring us on their site today! Without the Clink Room and the help of the Clinkers, the Stirrup Project...
